Checklist for IPTV on your Android TV

- A Google account on the device, which Google Play needs before it will install anything

Installing IPTV on Android TV in 11 easy steps
Make sure the device runs Android TV or Google TV
Open Settings and read the About or System page. The words Google TV or Android TV mean you are in the right guide. Tizen, webOS or Roku point to another guide on this site. Boxes that run the phone edition of Android often hide TV apps in Google Play, so certified hardware saves effort for the whole family.
Update the system and the store
Before adding anything, let pending updates finish. On Google TV, look under Settings, System, About, System update. Google Play refreshes itself in the background, and a restart afterward clears any stuck downloads. Current software means fewer failed installs and smoother playback on the very first evening.
Install TiViMate from Google Play
On Google TV, open the Apps tab and choose Search for apps; older Android TV screens show a Google Play tile instead. Search for TiViMate IPTV Player, confirm the developer name and install it. The free edition handles one playlist with live channels and the grid guide. Premium adds extras such as catch-up and a parental lock.

Some families prefer big tiles to a grid. Google Play had no Smarters listing when we checked in September 2026, so install Downloader from the store first. Then open Settings, Apps, Security & restrictions, Unknown sources and switch Downloader on. Enter the code that SyntraTV support sends, install the file and delete the leftover installer to keep storage free.
Add your SyntraTV playlist
TiViMate asks you to choose Add playlist and then Xtream Codes, while Smarters calls its route Login with Xtream Codes API. Fill in the server address, keeping http:// and the port, then the username and password. The Google TV app on a phone offers a remote with a keyboard, which makes typing faster than the on-screen letters and avoids small slips.
Let the first sync finish
Name the playlist SyntraTV so everyone recognizes it. The first download brings in channel groups, listings and on-demand titles, and a slower box may need two minutes. TiViMate asks whether to include movies and series as well. Say yes if the family wants films and series next to live TV in one place, covering all 120,000+ titles.
Check the clock so listings are right
Every listing uses the device clock. Open Settings, System, Date & time and confirm that the time zone is correct or set automatically. If a group from abroad still sits an hour off, TiViMate lets you shift the guide for that playlist in its EPG settings. Smarters has a comparable timeshift option in its own settings.
Replay a show with catch-up
On channels that support catch-up, you can go back and watch programs that already aired. The replay window differs from channel to channel, and some channels offer none. In TiViMate Premium, scroll left in the grid to an earlier program and choose play. In Smarters, open Catch Up from the home screen and pick the channel, the date and the show.
Hide groups the household never watches
A line-up of 25,000+ channels is easier to browse after some trimming. In TiViMate, open Settings, Playlists, SyntraTV, Manage groups to hide whole packages or drag favorites to the top. Put the groups people actually open first, such as local networks, sports and kids channels, and the remote gets far less exercise.
Lock late-night groups with a PIN
Smarters keeps its lock under Settings, Parental Control: choose a PIN and select the categories to protect. TiViMate Premium offers a parental PIN too. On Google TV, a separate kids profile can also limit which apps a child is able to open, which gives you a second layer that does not depend on the player.
Sign the same login in on other screens
Install the player on the bedroom TV, a tablet or a phone and use identical SyntraTV details. How many can play at once depends on your plan, from one screen to five. Favorites, hidden groups and locks stay on each device, so copy those settings by hand wherever they matter, especially on screens the kids use.
Android TV not working? Try these fixes
Google Play does not show TiViMate
Your box probably runs the phone edition of Android rather than certified Android TV, and the store hides TV apps on it. Downloader can still install the player. Keep in mind that uncertified boxes seldom receive security or codec updates, so a certified streamer is the steadier long-term choice for a family TV.
Listings are blank after signing in
The first guide download can be slow on low-cost boxes. Wait a few minutes, then run Update EPG in the player settings. The guide link travels inside an Xtream login, so nothing else needs pasting. If a player asks for a separate EPG address, SyntraTV support can supply one on WhatsApp within minutes.
Catch-up shows no earlier programs
Only supported channels offer catch-up, and the replay window changes by channel. In TiViMate the feature needs Premium; in Smarters, use the Catch Up section rather than the live list. If a channel that should replay shows nothing, refresh the playlist and tell support which channel it is.
Nobody remembers the player PIN
Player locks live inside the app on your device, so they cannot be reset from our side. In most players, clearing the app data under Settings, Apps removes the lock, along with your favorites and the saved login. Sign back in with the SyntraTV details and choose a PIN the adults will remember.
Streams pause on busy evenings
Home Wi-Fi gets crowded after dinner when everyone is online at once. A network cable or a move to the 5 GHz band helps most. On boxes with 2 GB of memory, close apps running in the background. Picking the HD copy of a channel for the evening also lightens the load.
Hidden groups come back
Deleting the playlist and adding it again makes TiViMate treat it as a new list, and every hidden group reappears. Change the existing entry rather than rebuilding it. If a package on the server gets a new name, you only need to hide that new name once.
A second room keeps stopping the first
Each plan allows a set number of screens streaming together. On a one-screen plan, pressing play on a tablet ends playback on the TV. Close the player on the idle device and allow about a minute for the session to clear. Regular two-room evenings call for a 2-device plan or larger.

Yes. You can save the login on as many devices as you like. The plan decides how many stream at the same moment: 1, 2, 3 or 5 screens. Favorites, hidden groups and PIN settings are stored per app on each device, so they do not copy across automatically.
Why do foreign channels show the wrong time in the guide?
The player converts each listing to your device clock. If that clock or its time zone is wrong, everything shifts together. Fix it under Settings, System, Date & time. When only one country group stays off, use the EPG time shift in the player, one hour at a time, then refresh the listings.
