Find the link in your WhatsApp chat
Expect a long address in the form http://host:port/get.php, with your user name, your password and type=m3u_plus attached at the end. Because your credentials sit inside it, treat the whole link as private. Anyone holding it can use your screens and bump your own viewing offline. Star the message in WhatsApp so you can find it again quickly.
Open it in your player
VLC takes it through Media, then Open Network Stream. Kodi needs the free PVR IPTV Simple Client add-on, where the link goes in the playlist URL box. On a Samsung or LG TV, Smart IPTV takes it through siptv.app/mylist. TiViMate and Smarters accept it as well, though their Xtream option is the better fit.
Add the TV guide link
A few players want the guide on its own line. For SyntraTV, that guide address swaps get.php for xmltv.php and keeps your user name and password. Rather than building it by hand, ask support on WhatsApp for the exact link, then paste it into the EPG field.
Set the guide to local time
Get the device time zone right before anything else, because listings are placed using it. Kodi users can shift the guide inside the Simple Client settings, anywhere between minus 12 and plus 14 hours. Other players usually tuck a similar offset into their guide options. Match one programme to the clock and you are done. Check again after the clocks change for summer time.
Understand group and guide labels
Each entry carries a group-title label that sorts it into a folder, plus a tvg-id that links it to its guide listings. Players that read groups show neat folders, such as news, sport or kids. Basic apps ignore the labels and show one long list, which is a player limit, not a playlist fault.
Tidy the list with favourites
The list runs to thousands of entries. In a player that supports groups, hide the ones nobody watches and add daily channels to favourites. Favourites are stored in the player on that device only, so repeat the step on each screen that uses the link. Start with ten or so channels and add more later.
Know where films and catch-up live
An m3u_plus link can mix catalogue titles in with live channels, and simple players show them as plain rows without posters or seasons. Catch-up screens are not part of a basic playlist either. For replays and the 120,000+ film and series catalogue, use the Xtream login in an app that supports it.
Choose sound and subtitle tracks
Tracks come from each stream, not from the playlist. On a computer, VLC lists them in its menus as Audio Track and Sub Track. Kodi puts a speaker icon and a caption icon among its on-screen controls. Many live channels carry one soundtrack only, so a short list is normal. Films and series more often offer a second language or subtitles.
Keep playback smooth in VLC and Kodi
VLC keeps hardware-accelerated decoding in its Input / Codecs preferences; leave it switched on. Kodi turns hardware decoding on by itself on most machines. The link plays each stream in the quality its source offers, 4K, FHD or HD, so a wired connection helps on a busy home network.
Use the link on more than one screen
One link can sit in VLC on a laptop, Kodi on the family room PC and Smart IPTV on the TV upstairs. Your plan counts only screens streaming together, 1, 2, 3 or 5 of them. Players keep the list current in their own way: Kodi reads it again when it starts, and VLC pulls a new copy every time the link opens.

The playlist opens very slowly
A player without group support struggles with a list this long. An app that sorts channels into groups copes better, and TiViMate does that at no cost. You can also ask us whether a shorter list exists.
Streams start, then drop
Streams can come as ts or as m3u8, and certain players handle one better. We can send you a link in the other format. Also check another screen is not using your only stream, since a newer session can push an older one off.
Names show boxes or question marks
The player is reading the UTF-8 names wrongly. Current versions of VLC, Kodi, TiViMate and Smarters show them correctly, so update the app or switch to one of those.
Kodi shows no channels after setup
The Simple Client loads the playlist when Kodi starts. Quit Kodi fully, start it again and check TV, then Channels. If it stays empty, check the add-on is enabled and the link has no space at either end. Updating Kodi and the add-on to current versions also helps.
Kodi shows channels but no guide
The playlist and the guide have separate settings in the Simple Client. Put the xmltv address we sent into the EPG section, save it and relaunch Kodi, then wait while listings arrive. Stale data still showing? Wipe the saved guide in the Kodi PVR settings so it downloads fresh.
Guide times are an hour off
Check the device time zone first. Then adjust the offset in the player EPG settings by one hour. After a daylight saving change, some sources lag for a few days, so reset the offset afterwards. VLC shows no guide at all, so use Kodi or TiViMate if the guide matters.
Clicking the link downloads a file
That is normal: a web browser saves a playlist rather than playing it. Copy the address into VLC or Kodi rather than the browser. Opening the saved file in a text editor just shows readable lines and does no harm. Delete it afterwards, since it contains your login.
Only part of the list loads
Some players stop reading a very large file, and a weak Wi-Fi link can end the download early. Try again on a cable. If it keeps stopping, switch to the Xtream login, which loads each section separately. Hiding unused groups also lightens the load.

Is M3U8 different from M3U?
Very little. M3U8 is an M3U playlist saved in UTF-8, which keeps names in other scripts readable, and the same extension is used for HLS streams. Every mainstream player reads both, so your SyntraTV link works whichever name the app uses. You never need to rename or convert the file.
Where can I get a free M3U playlist?
Not from us: SyntraTV never posts or links to free M3U lists. Lists passed around online are usually unlicensed, stop working within days, offer no help and may carry malware. Which player is best for an M3U link?

Can I delete groups from the M3U file myself?
Usually not. A hand-edited file stops updating, so new or renamed channels never reach it. Hiding groups inside the player gives the same tidy list and stays current, and you can undo it any time. For a trimmed list, a quick WhatsApp to support beats hand editing.
Does my M3U link change when I renew?
Usually it stays the same, since renewing just adds time to your existing account. You get a new link only after a password reset or an account move, and we send that on WhatsApp. Nothing renews automatically, so extending is always your decision. Will the M3U link work on a phone?
